The time of studies at the University is full not only of daily enthusiasm and hard work of mastering professional skills. The students enjoy their free time and our University affords wonderful opportunity for that. There is a student club with several teams of amateur artists. A very popular group "Panatseya" is formed of the students of the Department of General Medicine, the Department of Pediatrics has their own group "Biolakt", the Department of Preventive Medicine - "Epidemia", there are also teams of the Dentistry and Military Medicine Departments. The interdepartmental popular theatre "Esculapy" is very famous too. We have a folklore group. Every year the festival "Departments' days" is held and students have parties. Another tradition is International Students Festival. At these festivals medical students from Belarus and from many foreign countries come together.
The Belarussian State Medical University has a very good sport center - it includes a stadium, a number of sports and training gyms, a ski depot. There is sports clubs, which coordinates the works of numerous sports teams volleyball, basketball, track-and-field athletics, skiing, football teams and etc. Competitions between the sports teams of different departments are held on a regular basis. More than once the students of the Medical University were the winners of the regional, city and international competitions.
The doctors of the student polyclinic stand on guard of the students' health, there is a sanatorium which is functioning all the year round.
There are 7 good dormitories situated near the main University building and in the center of the city. All of them are equipped for comfortable life and rest. Every hostel has a canteen or a snack bar, a gym, a library, a reading-hall and a rest room. The students have discos and parties at their hostels.
