In 2011 the Belarusian State Medical University will celebrate its 90th anniversary. 44865 qualified doctors working all over the world graduated from BSMU during these years. At present over 6500 Belarusian and international students, residents and students of the Preparatory Department undergo training at 6 faculties of the University. In June of 2009 the Belarusian State Medical University accomplished its 84th release of doctors from the Faculty of General Medicine, 34th release from the Faculty of Pediatrics, 45th release from the Faculty of Dentistry, 40th release from the Faculty of Preventive Medicine, 12th release from the Faculty of Military Medicine and 34th release of doctors from the Medical Faculty for international students.

 The teaching staff of BSMU contains 888 highly qualified lecturers, the majority of them – doctors. Alongside with teaching students they carry out great scientific-research and therapeutic-consultative work at all big medical establishments of Minsk. 

 A higher medical educational establishment is a special institution as it deals with training of future doctors. A person willing to become a doctor should be ready for permanent studying, learning new things that extend over the scope of the curriculum. The students should acquire knowledge that meets the demands of modern practical medicine and even overtakes it a little bit. This is the aim of the whole educational process. 

 Modern and effective educational technologies are currently implemented at the Belarusian State Medical University and the informational support of the teaching process is constantly improved. There are many choices of computer teaching programs, a rich library and access to medical sites of Internet.
