International ranking position is one of the university's perfomance indicator. Achieving high rates in international educational rankings is one of the areas in strategic development of Belarusian State Medical University, that allows it to turn into an international educational environment and coordinate educational and research processes applying international rules and standards. The leading international rankings positions, activity in the international arena, recognition by the world leading universities and scientific organizations are a confirmation of the university's professionalism in the field of international cooperation, which in turn contributes to increasing the attractiveness among foreign citizens of obtaining higher medical education at Belarusian State Medical University and, accordingly, to an increase in the export of educational services.
International organizations
Belarusian State Medical University cooperates and exchanges information on topical issues of higher medical education with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), the International Association of Universities (IAU), and the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR). Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, Belarusian State Medical University cooperates with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in such urgent areas as policy development and implementation in the field of sexual and reproductive health, the introduction of new practiceoriented educational programs in students and physicians training. As a result, future and successful physicians will be able to receive a structured, evidence-based education. Their knowledge, translated into practice, will reduce the risk of infertility, increase public awareness of reproductive health and safe sexual behavior.
The University cooperates with the (WHO Country Office, Belarus) on topical health issues. An important result of such cooperation is the introduction of the acquired knowledge into the university medical activities and educational process.
Since 1998 the cooperation of Belarusian State Medical University with the International Working Group “Prevention”/International Forum of Hygiene (Germany) has been fruitfully developing. Every year the University is visited by representatives of the International Working Group “Prevention” - the world's leading experts in the field of epidemiology and hygiene. Partners hold conjoint scientific and practical conferences, workshops, trainings, exchange information, materials and publications on topical issues of epidemiology and hygiene, organize internships for university teachers in specialized foreign institutions. The University actively interacts with the International Working Group “Prevention” in the implementation of conjoint projects on topical issues of epidemiology and hygienic science, ensuring the sanitary and epidemic well-being of the population in conditions of natural and human induced disasters, as well as COVID-19 pandemic, including development and implementation of recommendations for the population, new methods of infection control to protect the health of medical workers and regulations for national health systems.
For more than 25 years, Belarusian State Medical University has been cooperating in the educational, cultural and humanitarian spheres with the “Japan - Republic of Belarus” Society. During this period, with the support of the “Japan - Republic of Belarus” Society, more than 70 teachers and physicians of various specialties were trained in the clinics of Akita University, dozens of scientific and practical conferences with the participation of Japanese specialists, days of Japanese culture, musical and exhibition events, humanitarian actions were organized at the university.
In the field of science and education, Belarusian State Medical University cooperates with the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN), which unites more than 100 scientists, including Nobel laureates, from many countries of the world.
